BACK TO M.U.S.T.

Image
I'm back at the Mindanao University of Science and Technology, then Mindanao Polytechnic State College, after several years of trying to focus on my job. I decided I must make a comeback, or I'll never finish my advanced studies ever. Our professor, Dr. G. Japos is a very credible and awe-inspiring speaker. He speaks with authoriy. It's sad to note that most of my classmates already hurdled their dissertations. Can I follow suit? That's a big question that only time can answer. I must finish if I will be at M.U.S.T.

MAM CHER, IT'S ADIEU BUT NOT GOODBYE

You're younger by three years and yet you're my boss. Having projected yourself as a lady with iron-clad fist, you prove yourself up to the challenge of the superintendency. Intelligent and charming, you can sometimes spurt flames like a dragon. We have been awestruct with your authoritative appearance. Yet you gave everyone what they deserve in terms of benefits. Teachers were happy that at last they won't have to buy floorwax to make their floors shiny. Teachers in hardship posts receive their due in terms of hardship allowances. School heads got a share of their MOOE downloaded every month. The iron lady is actually a lady with a heart! But now that we learned to love you, you're leaving. Yet we realized that you must move on. Gingoog is just a small pond. You deserve to be in a bigger territory where your sway would be farther and be able to serve more. That's what a CESO is! Although this is adieu, this is not goodbye. We will

MY MAMA OPANG

She is my grandma but I call her mama. Rufa Dunal Vda de Villafuerte is a sof spoken woman from Consolacion, Dalaguit, Cebu, married to Pedro Villafuerte from Patupat, Barili, Cebu. I grew up with her, as all my sibling were. My parents were always in Agusan. My father worked in Luna Timber Company as a logging foreman and my mother would accompny him, to take care of him at the work site. Thus we were left under the care of our lving grandma whom we fondly call Mama Opang. We were poor that my grandma would go to farms several kilometers away from Odiongan, my home barrio-to help in harvesting corn and other farm produce. In return, we will be given our share. My lola would cook viand and leave it at a nearby store. In the afternoon she would collect the sales, leaving a certain percentage to the store owner. Whenever I get sick, she would always be at my side, not sleeping until she sees that I am well. She would always comfort me when my elder brother would bully me. Whenever I cry

ALL THIS FUZZ ABOUT CHA CHA

Philippine politicians are a bunch of tricksters. Congress, dominated by the administration people, are accused of railroading a change in the Constitution, the ultimate aim of which is to perpetuate Gloria in power, or at least prolong her stay a little bit (maybe 20 years more? Just wondering). I'm not into politics but I think our politicians are draining their energy on bickerings, and plotting something in the dark. Are we a hopeless cause?

A SUDDEN HEADACHE

Image
Yesterday after arriving from Butuan I have this wracking headache that did not abate dispite the coldness of my office's aircon. The car we're in (I'm with the BAC to inspect a plant in Butuan) has no aircon and the the heat is searing. The sun is shining mercilessly and everything is just so hot, a respite from the floods in January. I took a pill and the sweat came later relentlessly. Some case of sinusitis triggered by the hot weather. We stopped by at the new Butuan cable bridge, a site to behold in Butuan.

THE BIG FLOOD IN GINGOOG CITY

Image
The fateful days from January 3 up to January 14, marks a wet entrance to the year 2009. The photos show the fury of an angry nature. The last big destructive flood was reportedly in 1979. They say there is a pattern and Gingoognons should expect this in a 30 year gap. Others say logging activities still on going is the main culprit. Force majeure or man made. ALl Gingoognons should be aware always of the tell tale signs, especially if the rains has been pouring for several days.
